The presence of a black bear has been reported in the Kohler Andrae Park area and it may be the same reported earlier in the Town of Saukville. Sightings began this past Thursday when a bear appeared in the back yard of a home just east of Ozaukee County Highway I north of Center Road. The large animal was heading to the north.

Then on Sunday evening a report was posted on facebook by a resident living just south of Kohler Andrae State Park, likely the same one spotted earlier to our south that was was moving north.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says that black bear sightings are becoming more common in southern Wisconsin. DNR officials advise that if you sight a bear, stay calm, make yourself look large, shout, clap or bang pots together, and never run from a bear.
