(LEARFIELD) – There are a few positives to take away from the Green Bay Packers’ disappointing loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The passing game – when Jordan Love had time – clicked for almost 400 yards.
And, rookie kicker Trey Smack boomed a 59-yard field on his first try. Smack also had field goals of 43, 26, and 40 yards, although the last one was taken off the scoreboard.
His first game was a strong one, with the only negatives a missed extra point and a kickoff that reached the end zone.
To the podium with Matt LaFleur: The Green Bay Packers began getting ready to face the New York Jets on Wednesday.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur talked about Jets quarterback Geno Smith and what he brings to the table.
LaFleur said that one thing the Jets will have to do is deal with Packers linebacker Edgerin James, something opposing teams have a tough time with.
After spending training camp being the center of much conversation, Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon responded well against the Vikings, according to LaFleur.
The Packers running game didn’t do much against the Minnesota Vikings. LaFleur talked about what running backs Chris Brooks and MarShawn Lloyd need to do to improve.
With the offensive line not grading out well, LaFleur talked about the chances of Aaron Banks playing this week.
LaFleur also talked about the offensive line’s reaction to the film of Sunday’s game against Minnesota.
After the Vikings gave the Packers offense fits on Sunday, LaFleur looked ahead to facing the Jets defense and what they bring to the table.

To the lockerroom: Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd spoke yesterday about the team moving forward after Sunday’s loss.
Lloyd was asked what LaFleur’s message to the players this week.
Lloyd said that it was tough to lose the opener but playing at U.S. Bank Stadium was still exciting.
Lloyd said that it’s good to have things underway.
Lloyd gave himself a self-critique.
