A moderate drought is now affecting all of Sheboygan County as July precipitation comes in a full inch below normal with one day to go. And even with a chance to pick up an inch or so overnight, dry soil is reluctant to soak it in, and drought conditions won’t likely improve in the short term. Good moisture now is especially important for corn crops while tasseling and extending through silking and pollination.
On the longer term, at least, conditions may not get worse as the August outlook is calling for normal temperatures and precipitation.
