(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 17, 2026 – The speed Austin Hartmann and the members of the 87A Hartmann Racing Team have displayed thus far during the 2026 season paid off in a big way with a career-best fourth-place showing with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series on Saturday, June 13 at Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wis.
An IRA doubleheader weekend opened with a stellar runner-up qualifying effort in the 26-car field with a lap of 11.884 seconds at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour, Wis. on Friday, June 12.
The Plymouth, Wis. driver finished fifth in the second heat race before placing fourth in dash 1 to claim the seventh starting position in the 30-lap headliner.
Hartmann ran as high as seventh in the early going and held the 14th position before dropping back in the closing laps to finish 21st.
“Friday night at Seymour wasn’t meant to go our way late in that A main,” Hartmann said. “I messed up not reading the racetrack and ultimately put us behind.”
On Saturday, June 13, the team headed to Shawano Speedway for the first IRA appearance at the sprawling half-mile track in 17 years. After qualifying 11th in the 20-car field with a lap of 17.859 seconds, Hartmann finished second in heat race two.
Following an outside fifth-row start in the 20-lap main event, he advanced from ninth in the early going to move up five spots to equal his previous career-best fourth-place showing at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. on July 20, 2024.
“Saturday at Shawano was a much better night,” Hartmann said. “I went out late for qualifying and put down a respectable lap. In the heat race, I didn’t get the start I needed as the top took off better. That put us starting seventh in the A-main on a tricky, rough, and slick racetrack. I got forward a bit and capitalized on some others’ misfortune, which ended up placing us fourth.
“I’m super proud of this team to put a bad night behind us and focus on Saturday,” he said. “I can’t thank all my partners enough and the team. Eric [Bergschultz] and Ozzie [Wesener] work their ass off. I’m glad I could put together a good run for them Saturday.”
The 87A Hartmann Racing Team is slated to take a month off before returning to competition with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. on both nights.
For those unable to make it to the track, the event will be live-streamed on dirtvision.com
