A former Mishicot middle and high school teacher was sentenced in federal court on Tuesday to 28 years in prison after being convicted of producing child pornography involving some of his students.
39-year-old Ryan S. Schroeder was found to have sexually assaulted a minor student for about 2 years beginning when the girl was in the eighth grade, and then abused a second, 13-year-old student who informed the school district of Schroeder’s violations.
Following a search of his cell phone confirming his activity with the minors, Schroeder pled guilty to creating a video involving one of the minors which contained sexually explicit conduct with the child.
Judge Byron Conway determined that 28 years of imprisonment was an appropriate sentence, adding that following his release, Schroeder would spend the rest of his life on supervised release as a registered sex offender.
The case was investigated as part of Project Safe Childhood by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Mishicot Police Department and with the assistance of the Manitowoc County District Attorney’s Office.
