The year was 2000. Shaggy was everywhere, radio stations were cranking out the reggae-pop grooves, and suddenly everyone was singing about finding an angel. Apparently, Cupid had traded in his bow and arrow for a Jamaican accent!
Released on Shaggy’s Hot Shot album, “Angel” became a massive worldwide hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001. The song features Rayvon and borrows a familiar melody from Steve Miller’s “The Joker.” Talk about a heavenly mashup!
And let’s be honest: if someone calls you their angel before 7 a.m., you should probably accept the compliment. Especially if they’ve already made the coffee.
Time to shake off the sleep, turn up the volume, and let Shaggy provide the soundtrack to your morning halo!
