John Mellencamp turns 75 today, and we’re celebrating with a song that’s 44 years old and still makes small-town America feel like the main character.
“Jack & Diane” arrived in 1982 with a little bit of teenage romance, a little bit of Midwest wisdom, and just enough “hold onto sixteen as long as you can” to make all of us wonder where the heck the years went.
Mellencamp is a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, an absolute legend, and someone who has been sitting firmly on my concert bucket list for years. So until I finally get to see him live, we’ll crank up the classic and let Jack and Diane take us back to simpler times.
