Visitors to downtown Sheboygan this summer will again be able to kick back in the middle of a city street to rest their feet or visit with friends. The City is returning the so-called “Parklet” to St. Clair Avenue between North 8th and 9th Streets, closing that block to vehicular traffic beginning on Monday, May 11th.
The purpose of the temporary gathering space is to re-image the area with pedestrian amenities like benches and tables, accompanied by landscaping that gives a cozy feel to the space. It’s an idea that began in 2021 as a way to encourage non-motorized transportation while supporting local businesses. The parklet will remain in place until November 15th.
