A wide net cast by federal authorities has convicted two main offenders on conspiracy to commit murder for hire, imposing sentences of life imprisonment plus ten years consecutive imprisonment for using a firearm during a crime of violence. The investigation that led to the convictions and sentencing of Lawrence Turner and Ronnell Bowman, both of Milwaukee, also led to the convictions of another 28 co-conspirators that were accused of defrauding the US Department of Labor of over $10 million in Unemployment Benefits through the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program and other state-administered unemployment insurance programs.
Two of those co-conspirators have a history in Sheboygan. According to Wisconsin Circuit Court Access records, they are Jaquan Wright who was previously convicted in Sheboygan County Circuit Court of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Calvin Kidd who had been involved in eviction proceedings within Sheboygan County.
Wright’s involvement with the federal conspiracy charges was logged on July 3, 2024 while Kidd’s offense was dated to March 20, 2024. The previous Sheboygan County convictions were not a factor in the case prosecuted by US Attorneys Laura Kwaterski and Michael Schindhelm under the Operation Take Back America, an initiative targeting illegal immigration and the elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
