A man is dead after being shot by officers in Oshkosh yesterday. According to a statement by officials with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, police were called to the Fleet Farm Store on Washburn Sunday morning, after receiving a report of a man who had stolen a handgun and loaded it with bullets he brought into the store.
An officer confronted the suspect, who failed to comply with the officer’s demands, and instead, the man pulled the weapon out, threatening the officer. The officer fired, striking the man. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The store was closed to customers as police investigated the shooting. The officer has been placed on administrative leave, as per standard protocol.
