Motorists getting around Cedar Lake in southern Manitowoc County will need to adjust plans for the time being as road construction on a nearby intersection forces some detours.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office said that beginning this Monday, May 4th, the reconstruction of County Highway “XX” and Louis Corners Road will force closure of that intersection. And while access to businesses will be maintained and garbage/recycling and school bus operations will continue, no other access will flow through the work zone.
A detour totaling 12 miles in either direction will be required to get around the project which involves removal and replacement of the existing asphalt pavement, roadway grading, installation of new curb and gutter along with storm sewer improvements. Weather permitting, operations should wrap up around the end of June.
