Students from Sheboygan North and South High Schools have a big job on their hands: to build a home. That sounds intimidating, but it’s nothing new for Sheboygan Area School District students enrolled in Career and Technical Education classes at the two schools. It will be the 29th such project undertaken since 1998.
The project, designed by North High graduate Madeline Gilson, was selected from those done by all students enrolled in the Project Lead the Way Civil Engineering and Architecture class. This will be the eleventh home built under the direction of instructor and project manager Ted Schermetzler, and the sixth student-built home in the Stonebrook Crossing subdivision by Werner Homes.
Proceeds from the eventual home sale will be steered toward scholarships, tools and equipment, and the purchase of land for future construction projects.
