The Tunnel to Towers Sheboygan 5k Run and Walk is this Saturday, September 12th. Organizers say the event was inspired by the heroic journey of firefighter Stephen Siller on September 11, 2001.
On that fateful morning, Siller had just finished his shift when he heard about the unfolding tragedy. Instead of a planned golfing trip, Siller headed back to his fire station, loaded himself up with his gear and headed into the Twin Towers, giving his life to save others.
Saturday’s event raises money for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides mortgage-free homes to injured vets, first responders, and Gold Star families. The run and walk portion of the day begins at 9am at the Town of Sheboygan Fire Station.
After the race, you’re invited to a Brat Fry with the proceeds benefitingthe Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The event kicks off at 9am at the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department on County Highway “Y”. More info can be found by clicking this link.
