If you turned on the radio this morning, brewed your coffee, and stumbled into the kitchen feeling a little extra heavy, you aren’t alone. Yesterday, the world lost a true force of nature. Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy as big, bright, and unapologetic as her signature look.
While it’s impossible not to feel a bit heartbroken today, if there’s one thing Dolly taught us through her decades of rhinestones, razor-sharp wit, and endless generosity, it’s that we ought to keep smiling. It wouldn’t feel right if we didn’t raise a mug and pay tribute to the Queen of Country herself on the “Clock Radio Classic” on Sheboygan’s Point.
Naturally, there’s only one song that could possibly set the tone for this morning: the absolute juggernaut that is “9 To 5”.
When people think of Dolly Parton, “country legend” is usually the first title that comes to mind. But let’s be real for a second: “9 to 5” is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest pop songs ever crafted.
