(LEARFIELD) – Lack of offense is the reason the Packers dropped their preseason opener at Pittsburgh Thursday night, 28-9.
Starting quarterback Jordan Love played one series, completed 3-of-5 passes, and led the offense to the first of three field goals kicked by rookie Trey Smack.
Love talked about Smack going 3-for-3 on field goals.
Smack said there that is a difference between a chip shot field goal and a 58-yarder.
He said that he understands expectations are high.
Green Bay was held to 160 yards of total offense.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur talked about the team’s performance versus the Steelers.
LaFleur also talked about the opening drive by the first-team offense.
Packer running back Marshawn Lloyd discussed getting 4 carries after spending the previous 2 seasons on injured reserve.
Lukas Van Ness said that despite the final score, it was good to hold the Steelers to 14 points through 3 quarters.
Former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t play and isn’t likely to play during the preseason for the Steelers.
The Packers second preseason game is a week from tonight at Denver against the Broncos.
