BREWERS FANS, THIS IS NOT A DRILL! Tonight, the Milwaukee Brewers return to the World Series for the first time in 44 years! Some of us have been waiting so long, we’ve got baseball cards older than the players!
And what better way to get fired up than with Bruce Springsteen’s “Glory Days”? The Boss released this timeless rock anthem in 1984, two years after Milwaukee’s last trip to the Fall Classic in 1982. The song celebrates looking back on the good old days, but around here, we’re ready to make some brand-new memories!
The song’s famous baseball storyline features a guy reminiscing about his high school glory days on the diamond. Apparently, he peaked in high school. No pressure, Brewers! We’d prefer our boys to save their reminiscing for AFTER they’ve got a World Series trophy to show off.
“Glory Days” became a hit from Springsteen’s blockbuster Born in the U.S.A. album, and its infectious, hand-clapping, beer-raising energy makes it perfect for a night when Wisconsin’s collective blood pressure is about to resemble a ninth-inning full count.
So grab your rally towels, put on your lucky jersey, stock the fridge, and prepare to explain to the neighbors why you’re screaming at a television. It’s time to turn 44 years of waiting into one heck of a party.
Let’s make some new glory days, And if the Brewers win it all, we promise to be absolutely unbearable about it. For at least the next 44 years.
GO BREWERS! BRING THAT TROPHY HOME!
