Today’s 6:30 Clock Radio Classic comes courtesy of Earth, Wind & Fire and their absolutely unstoppable 1978 classic, “September.”
And here’s the part that hurts just a tiny bit…
This song is as old as I am.
Yep. Same vintage. Same year. Although, in fairness, “September” has aged considerably better.
But I don’t even care. When those horns kick in, you don’t think about your age. You don’t think about your responsibilities. You certainly don’t think about whether it’s appropriate to be dancing before 7 in the morning.
You just GET FUNKY.
And let’s take a moment to appreciate that horn section. Seriously. Those horns enter the room like they own the place—and honestly, they do.

It’s the 21st night—errr, morning—of September! Give it up for Earth, Wind & Fire. Give it up for the horns.
