Public Health agencies, including the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, are now monitoring multiple public health concerns as both COVID-19 and Monkeypox are active within the population.
As for Monkeypox, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced that as of September 6th, the JYNNEOS vaccine is available to Wisconsinites who meet several criteria. The State DHS website addressing Monkeypox vaccinations is available here.
As for the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of confirmed cases in Sheboygan County has now topped 33,000, with a total of 33,005 logged as of Friday, September 9, 2022. 1,309 of those have required hospitalization at some point, up 5 in the last week, and eleven are now hospitalized, up from six last week at this time.
There has been one more death attributed to the coronavirus since last Friday, a county resident in their 60s. And of the now 281 county victims so far, one was between 10 and 19 years old, one was in their 20s, six were in their 30s, nine were in their 40s, twenty-two were in their 50s, forty-six were in their 60s, seventy-four were in their 70s and one-hundred-twenty-two were at least 80 years old.
The Sheboygan County Community Level as of Friday, 9-9-22, was “Low”. There were 95.37 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 persons in the county in the last 7 days…down from 140.45 on 9/1. New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the last 7 days was 8.6, an increase from 7.4 the previous week. 4.1% of staffed inpatient beds are now taken by COVID-19 patients in Sheboygan County, up from 3.3% last week.
