At Monday night’s meeting of the Sheboygan Common Council a resolution was introduced by all ten Alderpersons commemorating the distinguished service of Michael Vandersteen to the City of Sheboygan. That final measure closes the era in Sheboygan’s Mayoral office that began 8 years ago when then 61-year-old County Board Chairman Mike Vandersteen won election to his first of two four-year terms as Mayor.
Today, 27-year-old Ryan Sorenson takes over after a quick rise from Alderperson to Common Council President last June, and now to the city’s top office.
Sorenson defeated Vandersteen in the past spring election 4,417 to 3,113.
