(WHBL) – During last April’s spring election many of the poll workers needed to monitor the election came from the Wisconsin National Guard, and that will again be the case next Tuesday.
Governor Evers made the official call on Wednesday, ordering National Guard members to report for duty on Sunday in their home counties to complete training and receive assignments. Troops will be released from their assignments on Wednesday the 12th.
Although there’s been no official call locally so far, there was a plea for workers during last April’s election since many traditional poll workers opted out due to concerns over COVID-19.
Poll workers are compensated both for working the polls and for any training sessions, and generally work on election day from 6:30AM till 8 PM, but sometimes longer. Those interested in serving on Tuesday should visit the MyVote Wisconsin website.
