Tackling Cancer with Jocelyn
On 1/19/23, Jocelyn Stapelkamp age 6 was transported to Children's Hospital due to abdominal pain, fever, and a kidney mass where her parents Kevin and April received heart-wrenching news that their daughter has cancer. Surgery followed on 1/26 where they removed Jocelyn’s kidney, adrenal gland, and ureter, with a multiple day stay in the hospital, followed by radiation and now chemo for an unknown amount of time. Since starting chemo Jocelyn has had multiple long term hospitalizations with unmeasured stress and financial burden on the Staplekamp family, not to mention time away and arranging care for their four other children.
Jocelyn is a very sweet, caring, and loving child who gets along with everyone and is remaining very brave even though she has a long fight that has had many setbacks. Though the parents have utilized leaves and FMLA, this is all unpaid, leaving them to pay for the hospital bills, to and from treatments, while yet still providing for Jocelyn’s 4 siblings at home.
We have a wonderful community, where I have seen so many people come together to help others in need, that’s why we are determined to help rally around Jocelyn so she always remembers nobody fights alone.
Join us for a football Sunday filled with:
