DAIRY NEWS – Lameness is one of the leading causes of lost milk production and premature culling, making proactive hoof management essential to today’s dairy operations.
The 2026 Hoof Management Workshop presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP) is a must-attend workshop for herdspersons, hoof trimmers, veterinarians, nutritionists and dairy cow managers. Two repeating sessions of the one-day workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at ADK North in Plattsburgh, New York and Thursday, June 18, at Miltrim Farms in Athens, Wis. Simultaneous Spanish translation will be offered for both sessions of the program.
“The PDP Hoof Management Workshop is a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts using a working dairy farm as a live case study,” said Paul Lippert, Pittsville, Wis., dairy producer and PDP board president. “Attendees will take a deep dive into herd records, observe cows and facilities and identify risk factors that could impact hoof health and overall herd performance.”
Session facilitators will include:
- Karl Burgi, founder of the Save Cows® Network and an international hoof health expert
- Roger Olson, dairy account manager for Zinpro Corporation
- Dr. Drew Swartz, PhD, dairy cattle extension specialist at Utah State University
Attendees will work alongside their peers to complete the real-world case study, analyze findings and develop herd-specific strategies that can be implemented immediately.
PDP Hoof Management Workshop is accredited for up to 4.0 Dairy AdvanCE (DACE) and up to 6.0 ARPAS continuing education credits.
