With large numbers of spectators expected along the Sheboygan lakeshore during the Mercury Midwest Challenge this weekend, the Sheboygan Police Department is advising people to not leave their belongings unattended.
Those bringing chairs, blankets, tarps or tents onto city property in order to view the races are advised that such items must be attended at all times. The SPD advises that leaving items without someone on-site to supervise could result in their removal, as it would be considered abandoned.
The Mercury Midwest Challenge takes place this Saturday and Sunday, with most of the racecourse sited between the harbor and Black River. Viewers are expected to occupy the lakeshore, especially from Blue Harbor resort to the bluffs south of General King Park. Those areas of public green space and beaches are open for viewing by the public free of charge.
