A 4.0 grade point average is something any student would be proud to achieve…hitting that mark while earning multiple letters in athletics is exceptional. And now the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has taken note of a Sheboygan North High athlete who’s one of 32 seniors being considered to receive the WIAA’s prestigious Scholar Athlete award.
Among the sixteen boys being considered is Dylan Dettloff, who’s earned nine varsity letters spanning three sports including swimming and diving, cross country and track & field. He’s a four-time letter-winner in swimming & diving, earning all-conference honors as well as individual sectional championships during his sophomore, junior and senior years. Detloff was also named team MVP during his senior year at North, lettered three years in cross country and two years in track & field.
Detloff did all that while earning a 4 point GPA, serving as the electrical team leader on the robotics team, and he also spent four years as a band percussionist and served a stint as captain of the school’s drumline.
The awards ceremony is May 7th in Wausau, and whether Dettloff wins or not, there’s plenty in his future as he’s headed to Columbia University next year to study social sciences and compete in swimming.
