You may need to hold tight to hats and other things not tied down today as the latest weather system arrives with a bluster. The National Weather Service says that a cold front that came through with vigorous squalls last evening has opened the door for polar air to enter Wisconsin on winds that could gust as high as 45 miles per hour in both Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties. Those speeds are just short of requiring a wind advisory as of early this morning, but forecasters say that could change later as the day develops and the system evolves.
While landlubbers will be dealing with the winds only, mariners on Lake Michigan are being warned of gale conditions with west winds up to 40 knots driving waves of 7-12 feet through early Thursday morning.
All this will be accompanied by temperatures that will remain in the 20s, making it feel more like about 10 degrees for most of the day.
