Even as the rate of community transmission of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County reverted back one level to “Low” from the previous week’s “Medium” designation by the Centers for Disease Control, two more deaths were attributed to the coronavirus since last week’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health.
277 persons have now fallen victim to the pandemic in Sheboygan County, the latest being one person in their 60s, and the other at least 80 years old. So far, one county casualty was between 10 and 19 years old, one was in their 20s, six were in their 30s, nine were in their 40s, twenty-two were in their 50s, forty-five were in their 60s, seventy-three were in their 70s and one-hundred-twenty were at least 80 years old.
229 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Sheboygan County since last Friday, bringing the pandemic total to 32,171 in the county. The daily confirmed case count rose each day this past week, with 27 added on Monday, another 30 on Tuesday, 34 on Wednesday, 37 on Thursday, and 38 on Friday.
Good news was seen in the trends tracked by the CDC with the new daily 7-day total of confirmed cases per 100,000 person falling from 212.42 the previous week, to 196.81 the past week.
7-day total hospital admissions rose over the past week, going from 6.5 the week ending 7/21, to 7.4 during the week ending 7/28. However, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients as determined by the 7-day average fell from 3.0% the previous week to 2.8% this week. 11 patients currently are hospitalized out of the1,272 total patients recorded during the pandemic.
