SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) – We’ve learned more about the circumstances that lead up to the death of Oliver Hitchcock last Wednesday at an apartment in Sheboygan Falls. 41 year old Natalia Hitchcock was in court for an initial appearance Tuesday afternoon – she’s facing a charge of first degree intentional homicide, and a charge of attempted first degree intentional homicide, both felonies.
The criminal complaint says when rescuers arrived at the home, the child was laying on his back, pale white, and appeared to have been strangled. Hitchcock was in a rear bedroom in the apartment, and had reportedly tried to stab the father.
The father told investigators that Hitchcock’s mother lived in Russia, and as the situation grew more tense in Ukraine, Hitchcock began drinking more. On Wednesday, her mother had called from Russia, and the father woke up from a nap to their 11 year old saying, “Oliver is dead.” Hitchcock reportedly admitted to killing Oliver, saying she did so to protect him from abuse, stating she was afraid they were being sold on the dark web. She then stabbed herself in the chest and took a large amount of crushed up Tylenol, in an attempt to take her life.
Hitchcock also admitted to dunking the 11 year old’s head under water – but that her intention was only to scare him so he would understand his life was in danger. When authorities told Hitchcock that Oliver had passed away, she reportedly paused before saying, “well, I guess I accomplished what I set out to do then.”
