(WHBL) – The stereotypical mold of an NFL scout likely has little similarity to Kelly Kleine, a Sheboygan native who started in the business as a public relations intern with the Minnesota Vikings nine years ago. But Denver Broncos General Manager George Paton helped Kleine further shatter stereotypes on Monday when he hired Kleine, now 30 years old, as the Executive Director of Football Operations and Special Advisor to the GM as announced on Monday on the Bronco’s website. Kleine is believed to be the highest ranking female in scouting in the history of the NFL.
A statement from Paton called Kelly Kleine a “rising star in the NFL”, saying that the team is fortunate to add someone of her caliber to the Denver Broncos. Paton said: “Having worked with her for nine years in Minnesota, Kelly has a strong understanding of all aspects of football operations and player evaluation along with outstanding leadership qualities.”
In Denver, Kleine will be the primary liaison for the team’s football operations while also holding significant responsibilities in both pro and college scouting. Kleine will report directly to Paton and will oversee the Bronco’s video and equipment departments.
