Organizations that work to improve the quality of area lakes, rivers and wetlands are getting help from the Wisconsin DNR through the Surface Water Grant Program, which awarded over $6 million statewide on Thursday.
The Little Elkhart Lake Rehabilitation District will receive $3,350 for aquatic plant management; the Elkhart Lake Improvement Association was granted $1,500 for the Clean Boats, Clean Waters Program for invasive species control, while $10,000 will be used by the Glacierland RC&D Council for aquatic invasive species mapping of the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest in Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties.
