SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Mother Nature is poised to throw a tantrum in Wisconsin and, depending upon where you are, she may, or may not, cause plenty of trouble.
National Weather Service forecasters paint a mixed picture for Sheboygan County. While it’s a fixture of most winter weather warnings, snow probably won’t be much more than a nuisance along the Lake Michigan shoreline. But the western border areas of Sheboygan County could see as much as 5 inches by late Saturday night. Still, with temperatures near freezing everywhere, slick conditions could happen during heavier bursts of precipitation even near the lake.
While the shoreline escapes much of the snow, prolonged strong and gusty northeast winds of 40 to 45 MPH over Lake Michigan will build onshore waves approaching 10 to 13 feet on Saturday. That means erosion potential and a threat of significant flooding that may close roads near the shore. Forecasters also advise that the Sheboygan and Black Rivers could carry flooding waters inland during the storm and steps should be taken now to protect vulnerable properties from the potential flood.
