The National Drought Mitigation Center said on Thursday that there has been no change in drought conditions in Sheboygan County since last week. That leaves 86.5% of the county in a Moderate Drought, and the remainder in Abnormally Dry status.
Despite some fairly productive thunderstorms over the past week, the past 30 days have seen near, to below normal precipitation along with near, to slightly above-normal temperatures. Of more significance is the measure of soil moisture in the top 1 meter, which now shows a majority of Sheboygan County experiencing nearly a 10% deficit compared to normal conditions.
While the 7-day outlook shows a possible 3/4 to 1” of expected rainfall, the monthly outlook suggests that the current drought conditions will persist over the next 30 days.
