A state program designed to support the conversion of vacant commercial buildings into workforce or senior housing will help the City of Plymouth in its goal of creating a new senior housing facility.
The project aims to convert the former Willowglen Academy at 1111 Reed Street into a new, 36-unit apartment complex, a 3-building concept approved by the Plymouth City Plan Commission in May.
The funds come from the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, or WHEDA, as a $2,640,885.00 Vacancy-To-Vitality Loan, and is one of twelve projects sharing over $41 million in all to create 682 affordable housing units in nine counties across the state. The approval was announced by Governor Evers on Tuesday.
