Steve Harwell passed away two years ago at age 56. Band manager Robert Hayes told “Rolling Stone” that the “All Star” singer had been in hospice care suffering the final stages of liver failure brought on by a lifetime of alcohol abuse. Harwell had been dealing with health issues for years, including heart failure and neurological issues that affect his speech and memory. Harwell retired from Smash Mouth in 2021, replaced by new lead vocalist Zach Goode. Harwell died at his home in Boise, Idaho “surrounded by family and friends.”
