The intersection of Golf Course Road and Highway 151 in the Town of Taycheedah was the site of a crash in nearly identical circumstances as one that occurred on July 21st. In both cases, a northbound vehicle waiting to turn left onto Golf Course Road from 151 was struck from behind by a truck. The July crash resulted in a Flight for Life for the seriously-injured victim.
It was nearly a repeat on Wednesday as a 20-year-old Fond du Lac woman was stopped for traffic, waiting to make the same turn when she was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by a 38-year-old New Holstein man, trapping the woman in her car. After being extracted by rescuers she was flighted to Theda Medical Center with severe injuries.
Inattentive driving was blamed for the crash, which closed Highway 151 for several hours. Charges have not yet been issued as the crash remains under investigation.
