Speculation abounds, but Manitowoc County authorities aren’t yet ready to say that Elijah Vue has been found. The three-year-old disappeared from the home of his mother’s boyfriend in February, prompting intensive efforts to locate the toddler. A break in the case may finally have come on Saturday after a deer hunter on private property located skeletal remains and immediately notified law enforcement.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office was careful to note that they were unable to determine the race, sex or age of the remains, as that will take some time. The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, U-W Oshkosh Anthropology Department, Two Rivers Police Department, and the Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office.
The Sheriff acknowledged the obvious similarity to the ongoing case of Elijah Vue, but could not confirm that the two are related at this time.
Vue’s mother, Katrina Bauer, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, remain in jail, but charges so far have been related only to neglect. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
