Several area historic sites are getting into the holiday spirit, with decorations nearing completion and schedules announced.
“A Wade House Historic Christmas” will be presented on Saturday and Sunday, December 9th and 10th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. The mid-19th Celebration will emulate Yankee and German holiday traditions including period crafts and games for young and old, and horse-drawn wagon rides. The Wade House itself will sport traditional evergreen garland decorations and a candle-lit Christmas tree as focal points of an 1860’s Wisconsin Christmas celebration. For more information call (920)526-3271 or visit wadehouse.org.
At the Waelderhaus in Kohler, the 27th annual Gingerbread Festival opens on Friday, November 24th at 1 p.m., and is scheduled to run Sundays through Friday until December 30th from 1-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Extended hours are in place so visitors have plenty of time to enjoy weekend musical performances, vote on hand-crafted gingerbread houses, and view sculptures and original creations from local schools and community groups. All Waelderhaus events are free, but reservations are appreciated for groups of 10 or more. Information is available at (920)453-2851, and at kohlerfoundation.org.
