A couple of items are drawing attention to this evening’s 5:30 p.m. meeting of the Public Works Committee at the Municipal Services Building.
Discharging a weapon within city limits is against the law in Sheboygan with certain exceptions, one of those being for hunting on rural city properties that satisfy conditions like area, adjacent land boundaries and buildings. A plot of land recently annexed to the city for its SouthPointe Industrial Park area is currently farmed by Paul Rammer, who has long allowed hunting of ducks and geese on his property. The Public Works Committee will consider Rammer’s request to continue that practice.
Another item on the agenda suggests that Pickleball isn’t just a passing fad, but will be given its own place at Sheboygan’s Kiwanis Park. The Committee will discuss a proposed contract with Buteyn-Peterson Construction Company for the building of six Pickleball Courts at the southeast intersection of North 17th Street and Kiwanis Park Road at a cost of some $314,731.50, to be completed on or before June 23 next year. Most of the money ($270,000 each) comes from two Community Development Block Grant accounts, along with $44,731.50 from Sheboygan’s Capital Projects Fund.
