Preliminary December employment and unemployment figures for both the Sheboygan Metropolitan Area and City of Sheboygan showed little change compared with the previous year, that according to statistics released on Wednesday by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
Seasonally-adjusted Employment in the Sheboygan Metropolitan Area was put at 62,400 for December of 2022, a gain of 700 compared to last December, and 200 jobs above November of ‘22 data. Once adjusted for seasonal variations, there was no change month-over-month, and a gain of 700 compared to 12 months previous.
As for unemployment rates, not seasonally adjusted, the Sheboygan Metro Area saw no change year-over-year, with a 1.8% preliminary rate for December of ‘22. The rate was 2.2% in November last year.
The City of Sheboygan experienced a 2% unemployment rate in December last year, also a .4% change from November, and also unchanged from December of 2021.
Statewide, Preliminary December 2022 unemployment rates decreased in all but one of 12 Wisconsin metro areas over the month and decreased or stayed the same in eight metro areas over the year.
Municipalities saw unemployment rates decrease in all of Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities of the month, and over the year, 22 Wisconsin cities had unemployment rates decrease or stay the same.
For Counties, preliminary December 2022 unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 45 of 72 Wisconsin counties over the month, and decreased or stayed the same in 31 of72 Wisconsin Counties over the year.
