The level of community transmission of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County is back up to “Medium” as determined by figures from the Centers for Disease Control, after having fallen to “Low” last week. At this level, the CDC recommends that those at a high risk for severe illness or with compromised immune systems talk with their health care provider about the need to mask up or take other precautions. Everyone should stay up to date with vaccinations and get tested if symptoms occur.
Another 263 new cases were confirmed in the last 7 days within the county, putting the 7-day average case rate per 100,000 persons at 228.02, up 15.86% from last week’s 196.81. There were no new deaths to report, leaving the pandemic toll at 277. 7 persons were hospitalized since last week’s figures, but the 7-day rate of hospital admissions for the disease went down from 7.4 for the week ending on July 28, to 5.7 this past week. 3.2% of available beds in the county are now occupied by COVID-19 patients, up from 2.8% last week.
