Though no large-scale changes were noted in the data since Friday, the overall trend of the pandemic as measured by active cases in Sheboygan County has continued to decline.
Judged by the 7-day average of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County, though, the decline is clear. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports that the 7-day average of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County as of January 30th was 117. For comparison, the peak of the Omicron surge here saw a 7-day average of 282 on January 10 of this year.
As of Monday’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, 338 new confirmed cases of COVIDE-19 were logged since Friday, bringing the pandemic total here to 28,260. 5,059 of those, or about 18%, are now active. That, as another 396 persons recovered over the weekend.
Another death was attributed to COVID-19 over the weekend. The latest casualty in Sheboygan County, a person in their 70s, was the 231st attributed to the coronavirus. Of the now 230 deaths in Sheboygan County, one was between 10 and 19 years old, six were in their 30s, nine were in their 40s, fifteen were in their 50s, thirty-five were in their 60s, fifty-six were in their 70s, and 109 were at least 80 years of age.
Another 5 persons had to be admitted for hospital treatment of their COVID-19 symptoms over the weekend, raising the total number of COVID-19 patients to 1,124. 28 persons are now hospitalized, a decline of 1 since Friday.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County remains “high”, with a 7-day case rate of 1,170.45 new confirmed cases per 100,000 persons, a decline of 3.47 points from Friday’s stats. The percent of tests returning positive in the last 7 days was 28.09%, a decline of just over 2.8%.
As of Monday, January 31, 62.0% of the county population, or 71,424 persons, had received at least one dose of vaccine, up 29 from Friday. Another 96 persons received their final dose towards immunization, raising that total to 67,572, or 58.6%. Last week, 573 doses of vaccine were administered in Sheboygan County.
The number of facility-wide investigations in Sheboygan County – at least as it concerns nursing homes and educational facilities – remained unchanged from last week.
