Along with minor league sports teams and movie theaters, several area summer camps were given a boost through a $140 million investment to support Wisconsin’s tourism and entertainment industries impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The grants were funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and awards were announced on Tuesday.
Among the recipients were the Friends of Camp Anokijig Inc. of Plymouth, Camp Evergreen Corporation of Sheboygan and the Manitou Council of the Girl Scouts. Each was given $50,000 through the grant program.
37 camps in all will share a total of $1.8 million as part of the first pandemic relief program targeting summer camps in Wisconsin.
