Struggling families can be found anywhere…even in seemingly idyllic settings like the resort community of Elkhart Lake. A nonprofit group called ElkhartCares is repeating an effort begun last year to support those families with an online event called “Music by Moonlight: A Night of Throwback Songs for Elkhart Cares”. The event will be presented at 8 PM Friday, October 1st and is free for the public. People watching the show will be encouraged to donate what they feel is meaningful during the performance to help families in the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School District.
ElhartCares founder and president, Deborah Blain, said the community support seen in last year’s inaugural event “blew them away”, and enabled the group to assist needy families with basic living needs, fund local scholarships, music lessons, tutoring, extra-curriculars and continuing education for adults.
Music for this year’s event will be performed by musicians who’ve worked with such artists as Herbie Hancock, Barry Manilow, Idina Menzel and Paul McCartney, and featuring the voice of “The Swan Princess” for Sony Animation Nina Herzog who also serves as Executive Director of ElkhartCares.
