The number of active cases of COVID-19 discovered in Sheboygan County continues an impressive decline since the peak of the pandemic last November. 49 cases are now being monitored by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, the lowest number since 44 were recorded on July 7 last year. This comes as 4 persons recovered and one of 72 tests received since Tuesday was confirmed as positive by the DPH. 13,859 cases have been recorded here so far, and as of Wednesday, no one was hospitalized for treatment.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services added another 106 new cases to the running total which now amounts to 611,274 cases. 11 more deaths were confirmed as a result of COVID-19, raising the toll to 7,189, and 806 deaths are now listed as “probable” due to the disease, 3 more than on Tuesday.
The Wisconsin Hospitals Association reports a net drop of 12 COVID patients statewide since Tuesday, and 158 are now being treated with 59 of those in ICU beds. 379 patients in all are ventilated in Wisconsin.
As far as vaccinations are concerned, Sheboygan County remains slightly behind the pace of the overall state population. Whereas 46.9% of county residents have received at least one dose, 48.7% of the state has gotten at least one. 43.4% of the state is now fully vaccinated. In Sheboygan County, 48,591, or 42.1%, are now immunized against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
