SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – A much-anticipated vaccine against the coronavirus behind COVID-19 will be administered in the arms of St. Nicholas Hospital – Sheboygan staff “in the coming days and weeks” according to word received Wednesday from Hospital Sisters Health System and its partner Prevea Health.
The first round of COVID-19 vaccines was provided to a number of Green Bay-based frontline health care workers on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center.
HSHS Wisconsin President and CEO Andy Bagnall called yesterday “a monumental day as we take those first steps toward really changing the course of this pandemic.”
The first round is being administered to the organizations’ frontline health care workers in areas such as urgent cares and ICUs, as well as to those who provide direct care to COVID-19 patients and in long-term facilities such as nursing homes.
HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan is among four more HSHS / Prevea facilities across Wisconsin that are in line to receive the vaccines as more allotments become available from the State Department of Health Services.
