The Luxemburg-Casco School District announced that they’re almost done with the finishing touches on their Agriscience Center. They plan to use the center for the second half of the school year. Some of the courses that’ll be available at the center are Small and Large Animal Science, Agribusiness, and Exploratory Agriscience. The center will help to prepare students for a career in agriculture.
Luxemburg-Casco’s Superintendent, Glenn Schlender explained the goal of the center. “Our goal is to help create the next generation of agricultural and dairy producers and workforce through classroom instruction and community partnerships,” Schlender said.
At the Agriscience Center, advisors will keep animals like cows, horses, and goats at the center so students can get some hands-on experience with the farm animals. They also plan to raise chickens at the facility year-round. In the future they want to use the center to grow produce to eat as a part of their school lunch program.
