(WHBL) – The Marcus Cinemas, which run local movie theaters, are among 54 operators in Wisconsin that will share $10 million through the COVID-19 Movie Theater Grant Program that was announced on Tuesday. The funds come from the federal CARES act and are supplied through the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
In making the announcement, Governor Evers called theaters a “cornerstone” of many main street businesses, while DOA Secretary Joe Brennan expressed hope that the funding will help provide Wisconsin communities – large and small – with employment and the kind of entertainment that makes family memories for years to come by keeping the theaters afloat.
