MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Two civilians were killed in a gunfight with Mexico’s National Guard militarized police force near a violent protest at a dam in northern Mexico that diverts water to the United States.
The National Guard said in a statement on Twitter on Wednesday it had been attacked by armed civilians on Tuesday night and “repelled the aggression.”
One civilian was killed on site and the other was injured in the clash and died later in hospital.
