CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – Yu Darvish had a no-hitter going into the seventh, ultimately giving up just one hit and one run, as the Chicago Cubs doubled up the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 at Wrigley Field Thursday night. Darvish struck out 11 batters while Kyle Schwarber hit a homer for Chicago, which won its third straight to improve to 13-3.
Justin Smoak broke up the no-hit bid with a one-out solo homer in the seventh. Smoak also drove in the Brewers’ other run on a ground-rule double. Brett Anderson gave up two runs over four-and-a-third innings for Milwaukee as the Brew Crew lost its second in a row to drop to 7-10.
