SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Division of Health Services, in its Monday COVID-19 update – the first since Friday the 17th – reports that 16 persons received positive test results by Saturday; another 12 were reported on Sunday and 15 more Monday, raising the county’s confirmed number of positive cases to 418. 127 cases are active, an increase of 19 since Friday as another 24 have recovered. Two active cases are currently hospitalized.
The DHS indicates that of those 43 new cases, no single cluster could be identified. Rather, cases are now being connected with both community spread as well as through contact with those already confirmed as having COVID-19.
Since Friday’s update, 13 more persons in Wisconsin have died of COVID-19, two of those since Sunday
The positive test percentage had been increasing each day since last Wednesday, when 5.9% of all tests came back positive. The rate reached a peak of 10.3% yesterday, and eased slightly to 10.1% as of today’s report. That meant another 703 confirmed cases of COVID-10 since Sunday, raising the state total to 43,018. 9.6% of all cases so far have required hospitalization, and the death rate in Wisconsin is now 2.0%.
The Sheboygan County Division of Health Services is directing those still awaiting their test results to stay isolated at home until results are received. If those results are positive, a call will be given by the DHS with directions. Home isolation is necessary until one has been fever-free for at least 3 days without using fever-reducing medication, until other symptoms have improved for at least 3 days, and at least 10 days have passed since symptoms were first noticed. Those who receive positive results but have never shown symptoms should stay isolated for at least 10 days after testing was done.
