MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – A three-run sixth inning lifted the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon to complete a three-game sweep of their Central Division rivals.
Luis Urias finished the game 2 for 4 with two runs scored including an RBI triple in the 6th inning and a single. Avisail Garcia recorded his 13th home run of the season to score Urias one batter later.
Daniel Vogelbach opened the scoring in the first with an RBI double, his only hit of the day. Christian Yelich added a sac fly in the 7th to tack on an insurance run.
Adrian Houser pitched into the 5th inning and allowed seven hits to go with two earned runs. Brent Suter would finish off the 6th and pick up the win while Josh Hader would nail down his 17th save in as many opportunities.
Hader recorded one walk and three strikeouts.
With the win, Milwaukee sits at 38-27 and a half-game ahead of the Cubs in the NL Central in the win column. They’re 9-1 in their last ten games.
The Brewers will welcome the Cincinnati Reds to American Family Field for a three-game series. Game one is Monday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6;35.
